Where is the Counseling Center
located and what does the Counseling Center have

The Counseling Center is located on the first floor of Waller Hall. The
staff is available to assist a student in selecting a major, career testing, in improving
study skills, and in resolving personal, social, or educational difficulties.
The staff recognizes the right of the student to make his choices after he
better understands himself. The counselors provide up-to-date information to
assist students in making decisions about colleges, occupations, and
personal-social matters. The center has college catalogs, occupational
briefs, pamphlets, and other career literature. Students are invited to
browse through these materials.

The Student Success
Center serves students as a
resource area for counseling services, tutorial assistance, and supplemental
learning enhancement. The center offers learning opportunities through group
and individual instruction, computer based instruction, assessment, and
counseling services. The Student Success
Center provides academic support,
career planning, job placement, and counseling services in a coordinated
manner. The center promotes student success through removing academic
deficiencies, and by providing opportunity for academic enrichment.

How can a student
receive a tutor or become a tutor?

Tutoring is available in the Counseling
Center for those students who
need help in individual courses. Students who apply and meet specific
requirements serve as tutors. Student tutors are paid an hourly wage but this
service is free of charge to those students who qualify to receive the
tutoring.
