 Regular Admission

Regular admission is granted to academic, technical, and career students who seek the Associate in Arts, the Associate in Applied Science Degree or the Vocational Certificate.

For regular admission to the college, the applicant must submit:

1. A completed Northeast Mississippi Community College application for admission.

2. A transcript proving graduation from an approved and/or accredited high school or private academy, completion of an approved home school program or documentation of a passing score on the General Education Development Test (GED) . For purposes of admission, students who have completed 19 acceptable Carnegie units from an accredited high school are granted admission as high school completors. (37-29-1, MS code 1972)

3. Scores on the American College Test (ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).

NOTE: Career/Vocational students who are 18 years of age or older may be admitted without proof of high school graduation or without ACT scores. These students will be given the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) as part of the enrollment process.

In addition to the requirements listed above, International students must:

4. Provide documentation of a score of 525 or higher on the “Test of English as a foreign language”. (TOEFL)

5. Submit a financial affidavit demonstrating evidence of sufficient funds to cover college and personal expenses while in attendance. Total tuition, fees, dormitory fees, and meal tickets must be paid at the time of registration.

6. Provide proof of comprehensive medical health insurance coverage.

7. Verification of appropriate VISA status.

8. Attend an interview with the Admissions Committee of the college.

The college reserves the right to determine the number of international students to be admitted and to change policies stated herein when deemed necessary.
