Education

2003

Graduated with a Master's Degree from the University of North Alabama in Florence.  While there, I was a research partner and studied a new theory of student evaluation.  Our research is soon to be published in a fall issue of Phi Delta Kappa international journal for educators  (The Kappan).   I also contributed to a campus political journal as a guest writer.

1997

Received a Bachelor degree with honors from Delta State University in Cleveland.   While there, I was vice-president of the English fraternity, and was emcee of poetry night.  I worked as a writing tutor and traveled abroad to England to tour and study England's culture.   I also volunteered at the literacy depot and with the Girl Scouts.  I received the AAUW award.  I was published in the campus literary journal for poetry and short fiction, and the campus paper for political writings.

1995

Graduated with honors (President's List) from Northeast MS Community College.  While there, I was a tutor and a member of several organizations.  I was also a member of the Hall of Fame.  I received the Department Head Scholarship to DSU.  I was also part of local political campaigns in the area.

1993

Graduated from Booneville High School where I was a member of several clubs and organizations.  I also received the Creative Writing Award.

Background

Daughter of Elder Benny Burcham and Beverly Lowrey Burcham of Booneville.  Married to Derek Garvin of Booneville.  We have two beautiful children, Audrianna (8), and Aidan (5).  We currently reside in Prentiss County.
