#2 Chase Porch (East Union HS – Chris Basil, transferred Meridian CC)
A former East Union High School standout pitcher/infielder, Chase was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 32nd round of the 2006 Major League Draft
Decided to leave Meridian Community College after one season and transfer to Northeast Mississippi Community College
The Braves’ draftee notched four wins and two losses with a 5.20 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 32.1 innings pitched in one season at Meridian CC
A 7-year starter for Coach Chris Basil at East Union H.S. (7th grade – 12th grade), Porch led the Urchins to the class 1A finals as a junior, and the class 2A north half finals as a senior. “He (Porch) is without a doubt a program changer,” said Basil. “He’s capable of putting it all on his back and carrying a program.”
Coach Kent Farris- “The addition of Chase to our rotation gives us that big arm that we lacked last year. His bat and glove also will provide us with some depth and stability.”
