NEMCC HOOP ACTION AT SENATOBIA THURSDAY NIGHT
Booneville, Miss.--Northeast Mississippi Community College men and women’s basketball teams travel to Senatobia to face Northwest Community College in a North Division match up Thursday night.
According to the latest Mississippi Association of Community and Junior College (MACJC) North Division standings released February 2, the Tigers are tied with Itawamba Community College for the runner-up spot in division with a record of 5-3, while the Lady Tigers are at fifth place at 3-5.
The Rangers are currently in sixth place with a division record of 3-5 however, the Rangers are coming off an impressive win over the Itawamba Indians (5-3) which they defeated on Monday, February 1 95-77; the Lady Rangers -- who sit at the top spot with a record of 7-1 -- completed the sweep of ICC 73-60 in Senatobia.
Tigers head coach David Robbins’ squad is on a roll in division play after defeating Holmes Community College on January 29 with a buzzer beater 68-66, and then traveled to Moorhead and beat the Trojans 60-57. Northeast’s three-point win over Mississippi Delta was Robbins’ first conference win on the road since February 14, 2008 where the Tigers won against East Mississippi on Valentines Day 90-76.
With the top four teams in each MACJC division going to the playoffs, the Tigers are in control of their own destiny and would help their postseason push by picking up a big win against the Rangers Thursday night.
