NEMCC GUARD SIGNS WITH BLUE MOUNTAIN

BOONEVILLE, Miss.--Northeast Mississippi Community College’s sophomore guard Grant Goolsby has signed a basketball grant-in-aid with Blue Mountain College.

Goolsby, a 5-10 guard led the Tigers with 59 assists last year while averaging 4.5 points per game. He shot 42 percent from the field, including a 40 percent field goal percentage, and he connected on 71 percent of his free throws. Goolsby’s best performance in 2010 was a 17 point effort that included 5 of 8 from downtown, in an early season setback at Wallace State (Ala.).

“Grant was a great player for us here at Northeast and I am proud that he is getting to further his basketball career,” said Tiger Head Coach David Robbins.  “He excels in the classroom and he has great leadership qualities so I know he will be very successful at the next level.”

Goolsby played his high school ball at Myrtle where he led his team in free throw percentage, assists and three-point field goal percentage for four years. He was named to the all-division team four years and all north state team twice.

He was the MHS student body president won numerous academic honors. At Northeast, Goolsby was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society and was vice-president of leadership.
