BOONEVILLE, Miss.--Northeast Mississippi Community College baseball coach Kent Farris was pleased with his team's performance during the opening weekend of the 2008 season, as the Tigers split a double-header with Marion Military Institute (Ala.) on Saturday, February 9, before sweeping a double-header versus John C. Calhoun CC (Ala.) on Sunday.
"We wanted to get off to a good start, and we did," said Farris, who begins his second season as NEMCC's head baseball coach. "The one loss was a long game that went into extra innings where we had plenty of chances with runners on so we were in a position to win that one as well. Our confidence is good right now so we'll try to build on that."
Northeast (3-1, 0-0) will travel to face defending state champion East Central CC in Decatur, Miss., on Monday, February 18, before returning to the friendly confines of Harold T. White field in Booneville for a 1 p.m. double-header versus Northwest Shoals CC (Ala.) on Tuesday, February 19.
