TWO NEW ALBANY STARS INK WITH TIGERS

March 26, 2007

BOONEVILLE, Miss.--Northeast Mississippi Community College baseball coach Kent Farris has enjoyed a busy week. After coaching his 2008 Tigers to a 17-9, 2-0 start to the season with two road wins on Monday, the second year NEMCC coach added two more signees, both from New Albany High School, to his 2008 signing class.

New Albany seniors Daniel Tunnell and Brock Foster both signed letters of intent to enroll at Northeast in the fall, and begin suiting up for Farris’ Tigers in the spring of 2009.

“Both these kids have a ton of experience and can help us at several positions,” Farris said. “Brock and Daniel come from a winning program at New Albany. Daniel can double-up as a middle infielder and a pitcher. Brock can pitch and is a fine outfielder and base-runner as well.”

Both Foster and Tunnell are five-year starters for Coach Curt Fowler at NAHS.

Foster hit .345 as a junior, and currently is batting .360 with eight doubles, two homeruns, 17 RBI, seven stolen bases in nine attempts, and a 1-0 record on the mound as a senior.

As a junior, Tunnell batted .375 and led NAHS with 26 extra-base hits. He currently leads the ’08 Bulldogs with a .430 average including six homeruns, 14 doubles, two triples, and 27 RBI. Daniel is also 4-2 on the mound so far in his senior season.

Foster and Tunnell bring Farris’ 2008 signing class total to seven, joining New Albany teammate Brad Luna as a Northeast baseball signee along with Zane Treadaway (East Union), Brett Grantham (Corinth), Adam Kay (Belmont), and Hunter Mize (Lafayette County).
