TIGERS TAKE TWO FROM JOHN C. CALHOUN CC

March 14, 2007

BOONEVILLE, Miss.--  Northeast Mississippi Community College's baseball team swept a home double-header over the visitors from John C. Calhoun Community College on Wednesday, March 14, at Harold T. White field in Booneville.

Game one saw Coach Kent Farris' Tigers mount an unbelievable comeback.

Trailing 8-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Northeast rallied for seven consecutive runs, five of which came with two outs, and the Tigers came away with the 9-8 victory.

In game two, Kevin Williams (Corinth) pitched a complete game to get the win, as Northeast completed the sweep with a 6-5 win.

"We needed a confidence builder," said Northeast coach Kent Farris, "and hopefully that's what we got today. That comeback in the first game was one of the most unbelievable, unprobable comebacks you'll ever see. Hopefully we can start to build on that because division play is just around the corner."

Northeast will host Holmes Community College for a non-division double-header on Tuesday, March 20, before opening MACJC North Division play with a visit to Mississippi Delta Community College on Saturday, March 24.
