NORTHEAST SET TO HOST ITAWAMBA
March 29, 2007
BOONEVILLE, Miss.-- On Wednesday, March 28, Northeast's baseball team got a two-run homerun from Blake Woodruff in game one, and a three-run shot from John David Horn in game two of a double-header versus Northwest, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Rangers as Northwest won both games by the score of 9-7.
Up next for the Tigers, a double-header date against their rivals from Itawamba Community College on Saturday, March 31, beginning at 1 p.m.
Itawamba is off to a good start in 2007, sporting a 17-10, 3-1, record after sweeping Coahoma Community College in two games on Wednesday in Fulton, Miss.
"They'll bring their best," said first-year NEMCC Head Coach Kent Farris, "as they always do under Rick (Collier). They're a confident team after splitting a double header at Northwest last week, and then sweeping Coahoma this week. Plus, their playing us on our turf, so they'll definitly be ready. Our kids will have to play their absolute best to have a chance."
Northeast (9-15, 1-3) is off to a slow start in MACJC North Division play, after splitting a double-header at Mississippi Delta, and dropping two to Northwest.
First pitch of Saturday's first game is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Harold T. White field in Booneville.
