NORTHEAST SPLITS AT HOME VERSUS PEARL RIVER

BOONEVILLE, Miss.-- On Tuesday, November 27, at Bonner Arnold Coliseum in Booneville the Northeast Lady Tigers couldn't complete their comeback effort versus Pearl River Community College, while the Northeast men held off the Wildcats in overtime as NEMCC earned a split with PRCC.

Northeast's Lady Tigers (3-3) dropped their third straight contest in spite of a furious comeback effort in the second half against the Lady Wildcats (7-1).

Trailing by 23 points, 55-32, at halftime, coach Ricky Ford's Northeast women stormed out of the locker room to outscore the Lady Wildcats 50-28 in the second half. The end result: a one-point loss, 83-82. The Lady Tigers were led in scoring by two freshmen: Eboni Crayton (McNairy Central, Tenn.) with 31 points, and Suzanne Ford (Booneville) with 18.

Coach David Robbin's Northeast men improved their record to 4-3 with a 77-74, dramatic overtime win over Pearl River (5-3).

Pearl River trailed the homestanding Tigers by 13 points at halftime, 38-25. Outscoring Northeast by the same margin in the second half, the Wildcats earned a 65-65 tie in regulation which sent the game to overtime.

Buck Johnson (Ripley) drained a lay-up with :12 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Tigers a one-point lead 75-74. As the Wildcats tried to get an open look in the last moments of OT, Northeast's William Burdette (New Albany) picked up a loose ball, lobbed it up ahead to Ken Moore (Tallahassee, FL) who slammed it home on the other end for the game's final bucket.

Northeast's men and women will travel to Northwest Shoals Community College (Ala.) on Thursday, November 29. The women's game is scheduled to begin at 5 pm, with the men set to tipoff at 7.
