December 7, 2007 BURDETTE LEADS TIGERS TO WIN; LADY TIGERS STUMBLE BOONEVILLE, Miss.-- Sophomore forward William Burdette (New Albany) scored in double-figures for the third straight game and led the Northeast Tigers (5-5) to a 79-70 victory over the visiting East Central Warriors on Thursday night, December 6 at Bonner Arnold Coliseum. Burdette's 18 points was best among Northeast players, followed by 14 points (all in the second half) for sophomore post player Ken Moore (Tallahassee, FL). "William has really done a nice job lately," said NEMCC head coach David Robbins. "The thing I'm most proud of is the defensive effort we've gotten from all our players during the last several games. We've still got a long way to go, but we're making progress." Northeast held a 13-point lead at halftime, only to see it shrink to as little as six-points late in the second half. In the first game Thursday night, East Central's 10th ranked Lady Warriors jumped out ot a 17-point halftime lead in a game that seemed out of reach early on for the Lady Tigers. However, thanks to a great second half effort by sophomore Erica Grayson, Northeast's women climbed back into a 70-70 tie with approximately 3:30 to play. ECCC's Tanesha Brown would be the difference, knocking down several key free-throws to earn the win and propel her team to a perfect 9-0 record to start the season, while Northeast's women fell to 3-5. The Tigers and Lady Tigers will host Co-Lin on Saturday at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. The games can be heard live via streaming audio at www.nemcc.edu. ###
