NEAL MITCHELL SIGNS WITH NORTH ALABAMA
February 7, 2007
BOONEVILLE, Miss.-- Neal Mitchell has been called undersized, and a hair too slow, but don't tell that to the coaches at the University of North Alabama.
Mitchell has a nose for the football and how to make tackles. In fact he was sixth on the MACJC list in 2006 in total tackles with 87, and was named MACJC defensive player of the week after recording 14 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, one sack and one interception against Holmes in the last game of the season.
Mitchell was later named Honarable Mention All-State and selected to play in the MACJC All-Star football Classic.
UNA has signed the Clarksdale native to a full scholarship and expects him to make an immediate impact.
"Neal can flat out play," said Northeast coach Andy Greening. "When the lights come on he just knows how to get the job done. He's extremely tough, and he'll fit right in with UNA."
