CRIMSON TIDE SIGNS NEMCC'S MICHAEL RICKS Ricks was a MACJC (Mississippi Association of Community/Junior College) All-State selection as both a freshman and sophomore. He was named First Team All-Region 23 following his sophomore season with the Tigers. As a sophomore in 2006, Ricks started at safety for Northeast as well as returned kicks. The Colbert County, Alabama native finished 2006 tied with Northeast teammate Tim Bush (Columbus, Miss.) as the fifth best kick returner in Mississippi, averaging 24.8 yards per return with a long of 59 yards. “Michael can cover sideline to sideline as fast as anybody you’ll see,” said Northeast coach Andy Greening. “I know that coach Saban and the folks at Alabama are happy to get him.”
