NEMCC'S MONTGOMERY SIGNS WITH NORTH TEXAS

BOONEVILLE, Miss.-- Northeast Mississippi Community College running back Cameron Montgomery has signed a letter of intent to attend, play football for the University of North Texas .
Montgomery graduated from NEMCC in December, and signed with North Texas during the early signing period, allowing the 6’2”, 220lb tailback from Houston , Texas , to participate in spring practice with the Mean Green.
As a freshman in 2005 at Northeast, Montgomery averaged over 100-yards rushing per game, and was the center point of an offense that was the 11th-best rushing offense in the nation. He led the team to a perfect 7-0 record during the regular season (shortened because of Hurricane Katrina) and to an appearance in the Pilgrim’s Pride bowl to cap a stellar freshman season.
As a sophomore, Cameron carried the ball 143 times for 662 yards, averaging 4.6 yards per carry, 73.6 yards per game, while contributing six touchdowns. He was also the team’s second leading receiver in 2006.
In week six of this season against East Mississippi Community College , Cameron rushed 16 times for 74 yards, caught 8 passes for 131 yards, totaling 24 touches for 205 total yards. The next week, he led Northeast to a victory over Mississippi Delta Community College with 14 carries for 102 yards and four touchdowns, including three receptions for 45 yards.
Cameron finished his sophomore season sixth on the rushing list among Mississippi community college backs.
The University of North Texas is a member of the Sun Belt Conference alongside Troy , Middle Tennessee, Arkansas State , Florida Atlantic, Louisiana-Lafayette , Louisiana -Monroe, and Florida International.
