NEMCC'S CURTIS SIGNS WITH WEST ALABAMA
February 7 , 2007
BOONEVILLE, Miss.-- Northeast Mississippi Community College receiver Ralph Curtis (Taylorsville, Miss.) has signed a letter of intent with the University of West Alabama to play football, and attend college there for the next two years.
During the 2005 season, Curtis' freshman campaign, the 5'10" 180lb. slot receiver caught 32 passes for six touchdowns in Coach David Wilkerson's spreak attack at Northeast. Curtis was named honorable mention All-State by the Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges (MACJC) coaches following his freshman season.
As a sophomore in 2006, Curtis missed four games with a high ankle sprain injury and only saw action in five of the Tigers' games. However, the sophomore still managed to grab 24 catches for one touchdown. His lone scoring catch in '06 was an 84 yard screen play turned touchdown run in a NEMCC win over Miss. Delta Community College on October 14.
Curtis' 84-yard touchdown was the longest scoring pass of the season for Northeast.
The University of West Alabama is a NCAA Division II school that is member of the Gulf South Conference alongside Arkansas-Monticello, Arkansas Tech, Christian Brothers, Delta State, Harding, Henderson State, Ouachita Baptist, Southern Arkansas, Alabama-Huntsville, Montevallo, North Alabama, Valdosta State, West Florida, and West Georgia.
