NEMCC FOOTBALL OPENS FALL CAMP 2007
BOONEVILLE, Miss.-- On Sunday, August 5, eighty-one players reported to campus at Northeast Mississippi Community College for the start of fall football practice. Head Coach Andy Greening led the group onto the practice field adjacent to Keenum Stadium for the team’s first practice at 2 p.m. Monday afternoon.
“It was good to see all those faces, some familiar, some brand new,” said Greening, “but it’s even better to get them on the practice field and get the real work underway.”
Of those players who suited up on day-one of fall drills, 29 are sophomores and 11 of those are returning starters from last season (four offensive, five defensive, and two specialists). Northeast will be practicing towards their first major scrimmage scheduled for the night of Thursday, August 16. The day will also include annual Northeast Media Day activities: a time when the Tigers will take team photos and entertain interviews with various print, radio, and television reporters.
“We’ve got a good group,” Greening stated prior to the team’s first practice. “We’ve also got a lot of work to do, but I feel like this group will work extremely hard. They have all summer long. We’ll play two really good teams to start the season, so hopefully that will give us a sense of urgency during two-a-days.”
Northeast will open the 2007 season on Thursday, August 30, with a road trip to Jones County Junior College from the MACJC (Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges) South Division, before returning home for a week-two match-up with Gulf Coast Community College on Thursday, September 6.
