NORTHEAST DOWNS DELTA: READIES FOR COAHOMA

BOONEVILLE, Miss.-- Northeast used a 2nd half turnover, and a career night from wideout Kenny Robey to earn the Tigers' first win of 2007, 44-24 over the visiting Mississippi Delta Trojans on Thursday night, October 11, in Booneville.

Robey gave the Tigers a boost in the first half with a 72 yard touchdown catch and run that gave Northeast a lead it would not relinquish.

The sophomore wideout from Charleston, Miss., finished the night with 147 total yards of offense and three touchdowns, one receiving and two rushing.

"I'm just glad I could help us win," said Robey with a smile. "Coach (David) Wilkerson told me this week that I was going to score on that reverse play. He was right because he called it twice and I scored twice."

Sophomore tailback Cederian Drew (Greenville) also had a big hand in the Tigers' win, carrying the ball 18 times for 129 yards and two touchdowns. Including Duran Coger's (Tuscumbia, Ala.) first half touchdown, Northeast rushed for five scores in the game.

This week Northeast (1-6, 1-3) will play its only Saturday contest of the season, as it travels to Coahoma Community College (2-5, 2-3) for a 2 p.m. contest on Saturday, October 20.
