TIGERS INK BAMA GOLFER
Singh Becomes Tigers' 7th in '08
BOONEVILLE, Miss.--Northeast Mississippi Community College golf coach Craig Lauderdale has signed Haleyville (Ala.) High School senior Daniel Singh to a letter of intent to play for the Tigers beginning in the Fall of 2008.
Singh becomes the seventh golfer to sign with Northeast this spring.
“Daniel is a great golfer, a fine person, and an excellent student,” said Lauderdale, who just claimed his second consecutive Region 23 Coach of the Year honor. “He’s consistent off the tee, but his wedge game is what impressed me the most. With his control from 100 to 120 yards out he’ll excel at the courses we’ll play next year.”
As a junior for the Haleyville Lions last season, Singh carried a nine-hole scoring average of 36 and capped a stellar junior campaign at the State Tournament held at the Robert Trent Jones course in Opelika (Ala.) with a two-day total of 156 (average 78 per round) that left him tied for third overall.
This season Singh carded the lowest round at the Lions’ sectional event, a four-under 32, helping qualify his team for this week’s AHSAA 4-A State Tournament at Robert Trent Jones’ Fighting Joe course in Muscle Shoals, Ala., May 12-13.
