TIGERS MAKE MOVE ON DAY-2 OF NATIONAL TOURNEY
Bullard's 76 Helps NEMCC Jump To 11th Place
JAMESTOWN, N.Y.--Northeast Mississippi Community College head golf coach Craig Lauderdale saw his team adjust on day two of the National Junior College Athletic Association Division-III Tournament in Jamestown, New York, and jump into 11th place with two days of competition remaining.
The Tigers' team score of 316 on Wednesday gave them a two-day total of 647 and moved the group into 11th place. Freshman Cory Bullard (Booneville) led Northeast on Wednesday with a 4-over 76, followed by sophomore Hunter Shipman (Kossuth) with a 79, freshman Riley Boren (Booneville) with an 80, and sophomore Derek DeVaughn (Booneville) with an 81.
"We dug ourselves in a hole on day one," said Lauderdale, whose Tigers shot a 331 on day-one. "It rained yesterday which made it tougher, but that's no excuse because everybody had to play in it. I'm extremely proud of the way the guys bounced back today. Cory (Bullard) really played well, and so did Hunter (Shipman). If we can continue to improve at this pace the next two days we'll have a shot at a top five finish."
Lewisburg CC currently leads the event with a two-day total of 605. Defending national champion Nassau CC trails by four strokes (609) and is in 2nd place.
