NORTHEAST GOLF FINISHES FIFTH AT EAGLE RIDGE TOURNAMENT IN RAYMOND
BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- Northeast Mississippi Community College’s golf team placed fifth at the Eagle Ridge Golf Course at Hinds Community College in the Mississippi Association of Community/Junior College’s (MACJC) Tournament February 22-23.
After finishing the season opener in second place, the Tiger linksters posted a total score of 633 after scoring 328 in round one and rebounding with a 305 in round two.
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College won the event, carding a two-day total of 607 (+31). Copiah-Lincoln claimed second place honors at 620 (+44); Hinds Community College placed third at 621 (+45); and East Mississippi Community College took the fourth spot at 624 (+48).
Following Northeast in fifth at 633 (+57) was Pearl River in sixth at 642 (+66); East Central at seventh with a 652 (+76); Northwest in eighth at 654 (+78); and Jones County in ninth at 681 (+105).
Top individual scorers for Northeast were Booneville’s Alex Downs and Blake Hatfield. Downs shot an opening round 83, but fired a two-over-par 74 in round two. Hatfield shot a 79 in his first round and a 78 in round two.
Other top scorers for the Tigers were Daniel Singh, 159 (81-78); Tyler Parsons, 159 (86-73); Brandon Robbins, 161 (80-81); Dustin Bridges, 166 (87-79); and Hunter Stanford, 170 (90-80).
Head Coach Craig Lauderdale will take his team Forest Community College at East Central, Miss., for his next tournament scheduled for Feb. 28-Mar. 1.
