NORTHEAST GOLF TEAM PLACES SIXTH AT WOLF HOLLOW

 BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- Northeast Mississippi Community College’s golf team placed sixth at the Wolf Hollow Golf Club at Copiah Lincoln Community College in the Mississippi Association of Community/Junior College’s (MACJC) fourth event this weekend.

Copiah-Lincoln’s golf team captured first place in the event by shooting a two-day 592. The Wolves began the tournament with a 297 and improved on the second day with a 295. Co-Lin’s 592 was seven shots ahead of second place Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (302-297 – 599). East Mississippi finished third (297-305 – 602) followed by Hinds (302-304 – 606) and Northwest (308-309 – 617).

Northeast came in at the sixth spot shooting a 306 on the first day and then a 313 on day two for a total of 619 (plus-43) followed by Holmes Community College at 630.

Northeast’s junior varsity golf team finished tied for first in junior varsity action with Copiah-Lincoln’s junior varsity squad after shooting a two-day 633.

Northeast’s junior varsity score of 633 was better than five community college teams – Itawamba (636), East Central (646), Pearl River (657), Jones County (670) and Southwest (723).
 
Top individual scorers for Northeast were Blake Hatfield (Booneville) who shot a 153 (78-75) and Daniel Singh (Haleyville, Ala.) who shot for 154 (74-80). 

Hatfield and Singh were followed by Alex Downs (Booneville) 156 (77-79), Dustin Bridges (Booneville) 157 (78-79), and Brandon Robbins (Booneville) 158 (77-81).

Northeast will be close to home in its next match in Corinth. Coach Craig Lauderdale and his team of golfers host the fifth MACJC event of the year Shiloh Ridge Golf Club on March 30-31.
