NORTHEAST GOLFERS NOTCH THIRD & FOURTH
WINS OF 2007
March 7, 2007
MERIDIAN, Miss.-- Sophomore Jared Harding (Cordova, Tenn.) shot a round of 75 which earned medalist honors, and also helped his Northeast Tigers team score a 315 total winning first place in the Division III competition at the Meridian Community College Invitational today.
Harding's teammate, Chase Williams (Alcorn Central) carded a 78 and was named to the All-Tournament team alongside Northeast teammates Curt Butler (Corinth), Jared Hight (Corinth), and Hunter Shipman (Cordova, Tenn.).
"It hurt us today that Chase didn't have a good day," said Northeast coach Craig Lauderdale, "but fortunately it was still good enough for first in division III. I'm just so proud of Jared (Harding). He really picked up the slack for us today. If he can become a player that shoots in the 70's consitently we're going to be a really good team."
Northeast competed in the Holmes Community College Invitational the following day, Wednesday, March 7, and came away with the same result as the day before; a first place finish in Division III competition (team score 325) and a third place finish among all teams.
Jared Hight (Alcorn Central) shot a round of 80, earning Division III medalist honors for the lowest round under the tough course conditions at Deerfield Golf Club in Jackson, Miss.
