TAYLOR NAMED TOP RETURNING PLAYER IN REGION XXIII
BOONEVILLE, Miss. – Northeast Mississippi Community College sophomore guard Kayo Taylor (Orlando, Fla.) has been named one of the 2009-10 National Junior College Athletic Association’s (NJCAA) Division I men’s basketball top-returning players for Region XXIII.
Taylor, who transferred to Northeast from Seminole Community College in Fla., joins 20 other men’s athletes from the Magnolia State in being named a top-returning player for the 2009-10 season.
“Kayo gives us several different options this year on both ends of the floor,” said Northeast men’s basketball coach David Robbins before the season. “He has the ability to post up or take his guy out on the perimeter, is very athletic for his size and runs the floor better than most.”
Taylor, a 6-8 220-pound guard, averaged 8.0 points per game and 6.0 rebounds a contest for Seminole Community College last year.
“We are excited to have K.T. on board for this season,” Robbins said. “We are looking for him to be a productive player for us this year. “
Taylor joins Coahoma’s Donteeno Todd, East Central’s Antonio Grace and Kenneth Thomas, East Mississippi’s Coco Ware, Hinds’ Ananza Richardson and Chris Wallace, Holmes’ Gabe Osagie and Clyde Moore, Itawamba’s Vinzenzo Nelson, Jones County’s Brandon Wallace, Todd McDonald and Tyrone Brinson.
Other members of the top returning players for Region XXIII are a quartet from Mississippi Delta – Falando Jones, Lonnie Cottrell, Calvin Walker and Travis Rasco – along with Northwest’s Justin Gillard, Pearl River’s Kendereck Washington and Rod Little and Southwest’s Chad Jones.
