NORTHEAST BASKETBALL TEAMS SET TO KICKOFF SEASON IN HALLOWEEN AFFAIR

BOONEVILLE, Miss.-- Northeast Mississippi Community College Tiger and Lady Tiger basketball teams kick off the 2008-09 season October 31 at the PSP Industries Tip-Off Classic in Fulton.

The four-team tournament will take place inside the Davis Event Center on the campus of Itawamba Community College.

Ricky Ford’s Lady Tigers get the season rolling when they square off against Shelton State Community College (Ala.) at 1:30 p.m. on Halloween while David Robbins’ Tigers also get Shelton State in the 3:30 p.m. affair.H

ost ICC tackles Motlow State Community College (Tenn.) Halloween night at 6 and 8 p.m. in the Davis Event Center.

On Saturday, November 1, Northeast concludes the PSP Industries Tip-Off Classic when the Lady Tigers and Tigers take on Motlow State Community College.

Game time is set for 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.

Both the Tigers and Lady Tigers pulled off sweeps in the PSP Industries Tip-Off Classic last year.

After thrilling overtime wins against Bevill State Community College at Fayetteville (Ala.), the pair knocked off Columbia State Community College (Tenn.) in running perfect records through the four-team tournament.

Robbins’ Tigers are set to return to the friendly confines of the Bonner Arnold Coliseum on the campus of Northeast Mississippi Community College in a men-only contest against Lawson State Community College on November 6.

Ford’s Lady Tigers will open their season with five straight road games including appearances in the PSP Industries Tip-Off Classic in Fulton on Oct. 31-Nov. 1 and the Northwest Tournament on Nov. 10-11.

The Lady Tigers make their initial home appearance in a non-division game against East Central on Nov. 20 at 6 p.m.
