FARRIS INKS WARRIOR

BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- Northeast Mississippi Community College head baseball
coach Kent Farris inked Pontotoc High School standout first baseman/pitcher
Nathan White for the 2009-10 baseball season on Wednesday, July 29.

White played first base and pitcher for the Warriors and was selected as the
Northeast Mississippi Coaches Association for Better Baseball (NEMCABB)
Offensive Most-Valuable Player in the 2009 All-Star game. White jacked a home
run and added two more singles in his award-winning performance to lead the
West All-Star team to a 10-5 victory over the East.

At the plate for Pontotoc, White had 43 hits in 103 at bats for a .417 average and
a .680 slugging percentage during his senior season. He recorded 39 RBI while
smacking six homeruns and scored 30 runs. White went 5-2 in 43 innings
pitched with a 4.04 ERA with 52 strike-outs last spring.

White was a two-year Division 1-4A All-Division player and received the Golden
Arm Award for his efforts on the mound while under the direction of Pontotoc’s
head coach Phil Webb.

Not only did White excel on the diamond, but he was as impressive in the
classroom graduating with special honors and receiving an American College
Testing (ACT) scholarship.

“We are excited about having this kind of athlete with this type of quality”, said
Farris. “Nathan comes from a great high school program and a fine family, and
we are excited about having him come on board with us here at Northeast.”
