TIGERS SWEEP COAHOMA: GRAB PLAYOFF SPOT
Dillard's Grand Slam Sends Tigers To Postseason With 30 Wins

BOONEVILLE, Miss.--Northeast Mississippi Community College's baseball team needed a sweep of Coahoma CC on Wednesday, April 23, to eliminate all others from playoff contention in the MACJC North Division. Coach Kent Farris' squad delivered just that, capped by a walk-off, grand slam homerun by sophomore left fielder Drew Dillard (East Union) in the second game to earn win number 30 on the season for the Tigers.

"It's a great feeling to be in the postseason, with a chance to compete for a championship," said Farris. "One positive thing about making the tournament is that our guys get to play more baseball, more pitches, more swings, and in the long run it will help all our kids get more looks from 4-year college coaches."

Wednesday's victories brought the Tigers' record to 30-16, 10-6 in 2008.

Northeast will compete in the MACJC State Tournament on May 1-4 being hosted by Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Miss.
