GERMANTOWN STANDOUT CHOOSES NORTHEAST
Michael Collie Signs With NEMCC Baseball
BOONEVILLE, Miss. --Northeast Mississippi Community College head baseball coach Kent Farris has announced the signing of outfielder/pitcher Michael Collie (Germantown, Tenn.) to a letter of intent to suit up for the Northeast Tigers next season.
Collie helped lead Houston High School to a 20-18 record as a senior this past season and figures to make an immediate impact at Northeast in the Fall of ’08.
“Michael can help us in several areas,” said Farris. “He runs really well and is a contact hitter who gets on base. On the mound he’s proven to be a winner with good control and we’re looking forward to having him here in our program.”
Seeing action in 36 games for HHS this spring, Collie led his team with 32 RBI in 105 plate appearances. In addition, Collie totaled a .395 batting average that included two homeruns, two triples, and a team-best eight doubles. On the mound the senior right-handed pitcher sported a 1.76 ERA and only gave up 33 hits and 12 earned runs along with 51 strikeouts in 216 batters faced. Collie finished ’08 with a 5-4 record and two saves.
