BOONEVILLE LEFTY SIGNS WITH NORTHEAST BASEBALL
Jon Andy Scott Inks With Tigers
BOONEVILLE, Miss. --Northeast Mississippi Community College head baseball coach Kent Farris has announced the signing of former Booneville High School standout Jon Andy Scott to play for the Northeast Tigers beginning in the fall of 2008.
Scott, the son of former NEMCC baseball coach Ray Scott, attended Northeast during the 2007-08 school year but missed baseball season while recovering from Tommy John’s elbow surgery.
“Jon Andy is capable of being a big-time player for us,” said Farris. “He’s got great size and can be a threat on the mound and at the plate. We’re really excited that he’s recovered fully from the surgery, doctors have cleared him, and that he chose Northeast.”
Scott batted .445 as a senior in 2007 while sporting a .78 ERA on the mound in 45 innings pitched. The former, two-time Region 1-3A First Team All-Division pitcher competed in a wooden bat league this summer as a member of the Jackson 96’ers.
Scott will have two years of eligibility at Northeast beginning with the fall semester of 2008.
