TCHS' MORGAN INKS WITH TIGERS
Brett Morgan chooses Northeast
BOONEVILLE, Miss. --Northeast Mississippi Community College head baseball coach Kent Farris has announced the signing of Tishomingo County High School standout Brett Morgan to play for the Northeast Tigers beginning in the fall of 2008.
“It is an excellent way to conclude our fall signing class,” Farris said. “He is a big, strong right hander that we have had our eye on for some time now.”
Morgan helped lead Tishomingo County to a runner-up finish in the Mississippi High School Activities Association’s (MHSAA) Class 4A North Half Championship against Vicksburg in 2008.
The TCHS righty pitched a complete game against Vicksburg in Game 2 of the best-of-three series to force the ‘if necessary’ contest against the Gators.
Morgan, who was 8-1 during his senior season, helped lead the Braves to a 28-8 record and a Division 1-4A title.
The TCHS alum finished the year with a 2.94 ERA and 74 strikeouts in 32.3 innings. Morgan also recorded a no-hitter in his final year for the Braves when he blanked Biggersville.
“He is a good, solid in district recruit,” Farris said. “We look forward to see what Brett can do for the next two years.”
Morgan was also voted a Northeast Mississippi Coaches Association for Better Baseball (NEMCABB) All-Star following his senior season at Tishomingo County High School.
Northeast Mississippi Community College’s baseball team turned in a 32-18 record during the 2008 spring campaign that included appearances in the MACJC State Tournament as well as the Region XXIII Tournament.
