NEMCC SIGNS SHELBY SHOOTER TO HOOPS SCHOLARSHIP
BOONEVILLE, Miss.-- Northeast Mississippi Community College head men’s basketball coach David Robbins added another sharp shooter to his 2007 signing class when Shelby Broad Street High School senior Rictavian Knight inked with the Tigers on Friday, April 13.
Knight is a 6’3”, 175 lb guard who led his team to a 32-6 record, and the Division 3-2A title during the 2006-07 season.
“Rictavian is a scorer,” David Robbins said. “He can shoot the three really well. He basically doesn’t miss from the free throw line and with his height that’s a big plus because he can take the ball inside and draw fouls. Every coach wants a 6’3” guard who is a natural shooter, and that’s what we’re getting in Rictavian.”
As a senior, Knight led the Jaguars averaging 15.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game, while making 87% of his free throw attempts and shooting 43% from three-point range. Northeast’s newest signee scored a season high 30 points twice this season: once against Coldwater, and again versus Coahoma County who was led by Mississippi State University signee Ravern Johnson.
With the addition of Knight, David Robbins has now signed six players as part of his 2007 Northeast signing class.
