TIGERS MADDEN SELECTED MACJC REGION 23 TOP PERFORMER

BOONEVILLE, MISS. – Northeast’s Tiger free safety LaDarrius Madden (Leighton, Ala.) was selected as one of the MACJC Region 23 Defensive “Top Performers of the Week” after his performance in the 28-21 victory over rivals Itawamba on Thursday, September 10.

Madden put on a show in front of the home crowd at Keenum Stadium playing both offense and defense for the Tigers (1-2, 1-0).

On the offensive side, Madden finished with three receptions totaling for 45 yards, while tallying up eight solo tackles, two assists and landed one interception that was returned 55 yards for a touchdown.

"It felt good...it felt really good to get that pick and win a game", explained Madden.

Northeast has not had a player selected to the “Top Performers of the Week” since 2006 but Madden’s unselfish play set the tone for that spell to be broken in week three of the 2009 season.

Madden and company will look to add to its performance on Thursday, September 17, as they travel to Moorhead to face off against the Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans in a key North Division match-up.

 The kick-off that was originally set for 7 p.m. has been moved to 6 p.m. in Moorhead.
