WARRIORS CHOP DOWN THE TIGERS ON HARDWOOD
BOONEVILLE, Miss.-- Northeast Mississippi Community College men’s basketball team was in action again on Thursday night December 4, in Decatur, Mississippi facing the East Central Warriors.
The Tigers found themselves down early in the first half at the 14:45 mark 7-3 but would fight hard over the next four minutes to tie the ball game at 11-11. That was as close as the Tigers would get in the first half with a halftime score of 34-24 in favor of the Warriors.
In the second half East Central opened up with a 7-2 run to increase their lead to 41-26 with help from Devarus Walker, a sophomore guard for the Warriors who continued to rain three-point shots down and finished the night with 28 points.
Northeast’s Charles Mitchell did his best to slow down the Warriors scoring, as he would block two consecutive shots with 14:58 to play that would spark an 8-1 run by the Tigers to make the score 54-43 with under ten minutes left to play in the game.
As the game approached the 3:00 mark the Tigers would cut the Warrior lead down to four points only to see the game slip away in the final minutes as East Central nailed free throws to seal the deal 75-64 for your final score.
Adrian Caldwell, a 5’10” freshman guard from Marion, La., lead the Tigers in scoring with 14 points followed by Chris Gamble who finished with 12 points on the night.
The Tigers will be back in action at Bonner Arnold Coliseum for their last two games of the year next week. A division match-up with Holmes will be on Monday, December 8, tip-off is set for 8 p.m. and that will be followed by a Saturday game on December 13, tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
