TIGERS STILL WINLESS IN NORTH DIVISION

BOONEVILLE, Miss.-- Northeast Mississippi Community College men's basketball team were in action on Monday, January 12, in Senatobia where they faced the Northwest Rangers in a North Division match-up.

The Tigers came into Monday’s game 0-2 in division play and were looking to add one to the win column in the division against the Rangers.

Unfortunately, the Tigers fell to 0-3 in division play and 7-8 overall after falling to the Rangers 80-67.

Coach Robbins’ Tigers shot 36-percent (11-of-30) from the floor in the first half and hit on 1-of-4 (25-percent) from downtown and found themselves down at the half 41-28.

John Sexton led Northeast with 20 points followed by William Burdette who finished with 11 points on the evening.

Kody Jackson came off the bench to add five points for the Tigers. “We are not playing as a team and we need to buckle down on defense and we are not playing with a lot of heart”, said Jackson.

Northeast’s most recent acquisition Brandon Robbins, son of NEMCC Head Coach David Robbins, saw his first collegiate action at the 4:55 mark in the second half.  The younger Robbins, who is also a member of the NEMCC golf team, was 0-for-2 from the floor.

Northeast finished the game shooting 26-of-66 (39-percent) and only 4-of-16 (25-percent) from behind the arc.

The Tigers look to improve their record on Thursday, January 15, at Bonner Arnold Coliseum when the face off against there rivals the Itawamba Community College Indians.

Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
