NEMCC MEN’S BASKETBALL ANNOUNCES CAMP DATES
BOONEVILLE, Miss. – A pair of Northeast Mississippi Community College men’s basketball camps kicks off this year’s summer camp schedule when Northeast men’s coach David Robbins takes a Tiger Cub and Tiger Pride basketball camp to the hardwood.
After taking a year off for renovations to Bonner Arnold Coliseum, Northeast’s basketball camps are back in full force.
A trio of women’s camps is scheduled for middle June and July but not before the men get their turn.
A Tiger Cub Basketball Camp for sixth and seventh graders runs May 31-June 3 and a four-day Tiger Pride Basketball Camp for eighth and ninth graders heats up on June 7-10.
Both Tiger basketball camps focus on teaching basic fundaments and essential skills in all aspects of the game of basketball.
The camps utilize the time with athletes to help on shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, ball handling and individual and team defense.
When not on the hardwood, campers will have an opportunity to explore the Northeast campus and partake in the Gaye Roden Carr Aquatic Center, which features an Olympic-sized swimming pool.
Both camps will run from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Sunday and 8 a.m.-7:30 p.m. each Monday-Wednesday the camps are in session.
Overnight campers are to report between 2-4 p.m. on Sunday with day campers checking in at 5:30 p.m.
Camp cost is $130 for overnight campers and $110 for day campers. Overnight costs include meals, room, instruction; insurance, awards, a camp T-shirt, and a 2009-10 season pass to Northeast home basketball games.
Day campers will be provided noon and evening meals, instruction; insurance, awards, a camp T-shirt, and a 2009-10 season pass to Northeast home basketball games.
Registration deadline is May 25 with only the first 96 applicants being accepted to each camp. A $30 deposit is required with the submission of an application.
