ALABAMA STANDOUT INKS WITH NORTHEAST SOFTBALL

BOONEVILLE, Miss.--  Northeast Mississippi Community College head softball coach Jody Long has added another key signee to his 2008-09 class: a standout pitcher from the state of Alabama.

Nicole Singleton, a high school senior at Susan Moore High School (Ala.), has inked with the Tigers and will enroll at NEMCC during the fall of 2008.

"Northeast is getting a great girl who gets the absolute most out of her physical ability," said Singleton's high school coach, David Stanford. "She is a fierce competitor."

Singleton compiled a 21-11 record on the mound during her freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons at SMHS, with 189 strike-outs and an ERA of 2.21.

So far this season, the senior is off to a 4-0 start on the mound with one save, helping her team to an early 7-1 mark.

Singleton is the first out-of-state pitcher signed by Long in the Tigers' 2008-09 class.
