TIGERS REMAIN IN 1st PLACE WITH WIN OVER ICC

BOONEVILLE, Miss.--  Northeast Mississippi Community College's fastpitch softball team remained in first place in the MACJC North Division with its win in game-one of a double-header versus Itawamba Community College.

With the two-game split, NEMCC improved to 16-11, 7-1 on the season.

"We would love to have gotten the sweep," said NEMCC head coach Jody Long, "but when you're playing on the road in this division a split is not bad. So far we've been able to take care of the home games and if we can continue that we can reach our goals of winning the division."

Earlier this season, Northeast swept division double-headers against Northwest CC, and Mississippi Delta CC. Now, the Tigers must travel to face Northwest CC on their turf in Senatobia this Saturday, April 5.

"It'll be a huge challenge and I hope our kids understand that," Long added. "Just because we beat them twice at home doesn't mean we have the advantage at their place. We'll have to really play well to have a chance."

First pitch between the Tigers and Lady Rangers is scheduled for 12 noon.
