JANSEN INKS WITH MISS. VALLEY STATE
Pitcher Becomes Second From 2007-08 Team To Ink With D-I school
BOONEVILLE, Miss.-- Northeast Mississippi Community College head softball coach Jody Long has announced that former Northeast pitcher Lisa Jansen (Frankfurt, Germany) has signed a letter of intent with Mississippi Valley State University of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). Jansen joins her NEMCC teammate Shanika Randle (Houston) in the 2008 signing class for the Delta Devilettes.
“Lisa had several offers from four-year schools,” said Long, “and she wound up choosing Valley because she’s familiar with their program, knows some of the current players, and she likes to win and that’s what they do there. Lisa has been a joy to coach these past two years and she’ll have a ton of success on the mound for at MVSU.”
A hard-throwing left-handed pitcher from Germany, Jansen burst onto the MACJC scene in 2007 earning 1st Team All-State honors thanks to a 13-6 record, 3.02 ERA, and 196 strikeouts as a freshman.
Jansen followed her ’07 performance with a solid campaign in 2008, earning a 10-8 mark on the mound with a 4.37 ERA and 122 strikeouts in 113.2 innings pitched. Her sophomore efforts earned 1st Team All-Region 23 recognition while helping to win Northeast’s 7th outright North Division title in the last eight years.
Jansen becomes the 19th player in six years to exit Jody Long’s NEMCC softball program and sign with a four-year university
