NORTHEAST SCHEDULES ANNUAL EXPOSURE TOURNAMENT

BOONEVILLE, Miss. – Northeast Mississippi Community College’s softball team will hold its annual Northeast Softball Exposure Tournament on Saturday, March 21.

The tournament held in conjunction with Booneville High School features 13 teams – 11 from the Magnolia State and one each from Alabama and Tennessee.

Head Softball Coach Jody Long said that the tournament is set up for the maximum recognition for area softball players and allows players to play in front of college coaches that normally would not see the players.

This year’s tournament will feature teams from all over Mississippi from as far west at Southaven to as south as McComb and eight teams from Northeast’s five-county area. Booneville, Kossuth, Tishomingo County, New Site, New Albany, Biggersville, Baldwyn and Alcorn Central have all joined the fun at Booneville City Park.

Central High School in Florence, Ala., along with Bartlett High School in Bartlett, Tenn., has also agreed to join the tournament.

This year’s tournament will start at 10 a.m. with five games on each of Booneville City Park’s four softball fields.

During the 20-game tournament, a couple key match-ups will include Bartlett (Tenn.) facing off with Central (Ala.) and Southaven along with host Booneville trying to capture four straight contests from noon to 6 p.m. on Field 4.

Build into the schedule is one junior varsity contest that sees Tishomingo County take on Booneville at 2 p.m. on Field 4.

An all-Prentiss County battle will cap the tournament as Lee Boyette tries to take her Booneville Lady Blue Devils against Northeast alumna Jessica Spain Taylor and her Lady Bearcats of Baldwyn at 6 p.m. on Field 4.
