NEMCC SOFTBALL RELAXES FOR A FEW DAYS BEFORE DIVISION PLAY

BOONEVILLE, Miss. – A few days rest is all the Northeast Mississippi Community College softball team needs.

After having a hand in 28 games in six days over Spring Break (March 16-21), Northeast has the luxury of three days off before hitting the diamond again.

Northeast wrapped up its 20-game, 13-team high school softball tournament on Saturday and does not have a game until the Lady Tigers travel to Coahoma Community College in Clarksdale on Wednesday, March 25 for a North Division doubleheader.

Northeast battled teams from the tri-state region during its spring break. The Lady Tigers took on Southwest Tennessee Community College, Northwest Mississippi Community College and Northwest Shoals (Ala.) Community College in addition to sweeping Three Rivers (Mo.) Community College in a five-day span.

After hitting a rough patch to start the year with cancellations and postponements each week, Northeast has not had more than four days off since starting its North Division slate with the exception of Mother Nature granting a few extra days when she caused the postponement of the Northeast-Northwest affair on March 12.

After battling Coahoma on March 25, Northeast returns to the friendly confides of Booneville City Park for a six-game stretch that includes a pair of North Division match-ups.

Itawamba Community College comes to town on Saturday, March 28 and Holmes Community College visits on March 31. A double-dip with East Central is sandwiched between the two North Division encounters on March 30.
