Responsibilities
of Online Students

  • Compatible Technical Resources include:
    • Internet Access (Dial-up, DSL, or Cable);
    • Personal Computer or Laptop (minimum speed for sufficient internet access);
    • CD-ROM, DVD or jump drive (to retrieve and save data files);
    • 128 megabytes of RAM or higher recommended;
    • Microsoft Word;
    • NEMCC Email address;
    • Specific software packages for various courses. You may need specific software packages for some courses (such as computer or writing classes). Please verify that your system has the required software, memory and operating system (Windows XP, VISTA, etc.) to properly run the software package prior to registering for the course.
  • It is the responsibility of the student to stay in contact with the instructor of an Internet class. (If the student loses contact with the instructor, the student should immediately contact Holly Melvin via e-mail at hnmelvin@nemcc.edu or by phone at 662-720-7193 for assistance.)
  • It is the responsibility of the student to make arrangements to obtain the needed textbooks for an Internet class by the first day of class.
  • The student should login to their Internet class on the first day of class.
  • If an instructor requires an exam for an Internet class to be proctored, it is the responsibility of the student to contact Northeast and make a test appointment.
  • Students are not allowed to send junk e-mail to anyone associated with the Mississippi Virtual Community College System. This includes, but is not limited to jokes, profanity, pornography and chain letters.
