ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY UNIT II
This project is designed to acquaint you with the initial procedures involved in critical thinking, namely identifying, expressing, and investigating issues, and to assist you in becoming a critical reader/writer. You will need twenty or more 4 X 6 index cards and your own paper for printing. On the first two lines of the card, you will write the bibliographic entry (MLA); then, skip a line and write a brief summary of at least three sentences for each card (except # 8). Number your cards in the upper right corner.
Title Card: On an index card, write your name, the date, ENG 1113, your class period, and topic(s). Card# Directions
1-4 Using EBSCOHOST. Find current magazine articles on your topic and make an annotated bibliography for each card.
5 Using the Newspaper Source in EBSCOHOST, make a card for a newspaper article on your topic.
6-7 Using a literary site (Literature Resource Center, Galenet, Wilson Biography,etc), access a renowned writer (Eudora Welty, Richard Wright, William Faulkner, Toni Morrison, John Grisham, etc) and write an annotated bibliography for a literary criticism and another for a biographical sketch of the writer and his/her writing.
8 Access the Library’s Online Catalog. Find a book on your topic or a related topic and write the bibliographic entry only.
9 Use NetLibrary on your topic or a related topic. Write an annotated bibliography.
10 Using MELO, access the Occupational Outlook Handbook. Write an annotated bibliography for this source.
11 Using MELO, access a specialized reference book or dictionary and define the word that you plan to use for the topic of your Unit III paper. (Write an annotated bibliography for this source.)
12 Using the online CQ Researcher, prepare an annotated bibliography card
13 Using the online SIRS, prepare an annotated bibliography card
14-15 Find an argument related to a controversial topic in Opposing Viewpoints, or any book or online series for argumentative essays. Prepare two cards (one for each side).
