Checking Out Books
Books not marked as “Reference” may be checked out at the Service Desk in the library by showing a valid NEMCC ID card. The borrowing period is two weeks. Students should return materials on time and recheck them if they have not finished using them. Books should be returned to the Service Desk. There are no fines for overdue books; however, a hold may be placed on a student’s record for any unreturned items.
Electronic Books
There are many electronic books which are accessible through the Online Library Catalog. These are labeled as E-BOOK or EBSCO-BOOK and are accessible by clicking on the “View” link provided in the library catalog and then clicking the "Electronic Access" link near the bottom of the record. Reserve Materials
Materials that instructors have on Faculty Reserve can be obtained at the Service Desk. Faculty reserve items can be identified by using the online library catalog, choosing “Reserve Desk” at the public access choice screen, clicking on instructor, and typing in the instructor’s last name.
Library Material Locations
The location of materials is indicated beside the copy number in the online library catalog. Students have access to all shelved materials. Electronic materials may be accessed from any online computer.
Reference Service
Access is available anytime by clicking on the 24/7 reference link to receive assistance from a librarian or by phoning or emailing the library.
Copy Machines
A copier is located in the reception area adjacent to the library. Paper sizes available are 8 ½” x 11” and 11” x 14”. Library staff will assist in copying. Copy charges are fifteen cents per page.
Interlibrary Loan
Books and articles not available in the library may be obtained from other libraries and agencies. Students must consult with a library staff member to request this service. Fees may be charged by the lending library. Materials from the Eula Dees Memorial Library at the Northeast in Booneville may be requested and will be delivered to the Northeast at New Albany library within two business days. Lost and Found
For personal belongings lost in the library, inquire at the Service Desk
Telephone
In case of emergency, students may request to use a staff telephone.
Computers
Computers are provided for students. The computers provide access to the Library Catalog, Online Databases, the Internet, Office XP, and course-specific applications. Students may either provide their own printer paper or buy it for five cents per sheet at the Service Desk. |
