PTK CHEESE SALE WINNER ANNOUNCED; SPRING SALE BEGINS
Rusty Whitten of Corinth, president of Northeast Mississippi Community Colleges Phi Theta Kappa honor society, recently presented Andrew Ginn of Shannon, chapter public relations secretary, a check for $25 for being the top seller in PTKs annual fall cheese sale. Ginn sold 58 two-pound blocks of cheese. Members sell the cheese each year at Christmas and Easter. Proceeds go to help pay for service projects the group engages in, as well as for travel to the International Phi Theta Kappa Convention. The presentation was made as the chapter kicked off their spring cheese sale. Founded in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society composed of 1100 chapters at colleges in the United States and Canada. International headquarters for the organization is located in Jackson, Miss. PTK seeks to foster the development of leadership and service, to provide an intellectual climate for the exchange of ideas, and to encourage the establishment of scholarships for advanced education. Northeasts Iota Zeta chapter is a Five Star chapter, the highest rating given any chapter, and has been recognized as an exemplary model.
