
PHI THETA KAPPA RECOGNIZES HOLLEY
Northeast Mississippi Community Colleges Iota Zeta chapter
of Phi Theta Kappa recently recognized Brad Holley of Booneville
with a certificate of appreciation for his many contributions to
the chapter. Holley, who directs Northeasts duplicating
services, performs numerous tasks for the chapter on campus
including help with the chapter newsletter and yearbook. Pictured
with Holley is Rusty Whitten of Corinth, 2006-07 chapter
president; Joel Barron of New Site, corresponding secretary and
Cody Burchell of Booneville, vice president for service. Founded
in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society
composed of 1100 chapters at colleges in the United States and
Canada. International headquarters for the organization are
located in Jackson, Miss. PTK seeks to foster the development of
leadership and service, to provide an intellectual climate for
the exchange of ideas, and to encourage the establishment of
scholarships for advanced education. Approximately 48,000 new
members are initiated each year. Recognized by the American
Association of Community Colleges, Phi Theta Kappa is the
official honor society of two-year colleges. Northeasts
Iota Zeta chapter is a Five Star chapter, the highest
rating given any chapter. It is open to students enrolled
full-time who maintain a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
