
PTK OFFICERS ATTEND REGIONAL CONFERENCE
Officers of Northeast Mississippi Community Colleges Iota
Zeta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society recently attended
the Mississippi/Louisiana Regional Convention on the Jefferson
Davis campus of Mississippi Gulf
Coast Community College in Gulfport. Attending were (front row)
Rusty Whitten, Corinth, president; Cody Burchell, Booneville,
vice president for service and northern region vice president;
Joel Barron, New Site, recording secretary; and Ray Harris,
Booneville, advisor and (back row) Barbara Shackelford,
Booneville, advisor; Sarah Shelton, Ripley, vice president for
leadership; Mark Williams, Booneville, treasurer; and Allyson
Cartwright, Booneville, vice president for scholarship. Northeasts
Iota Zeta chapter received a Five Star chapter rating
at the convention, the highest rating given.
Founded in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor
society composed of 1100 chapters at colleges in the United
States and Canada. International headquarters for the
organization are located in Jackson, Miss. Phi Theta Kappa is the
official honor society of two-year colleges.
