NEMCC BLOOD DRIVE SURPASSES GOALAt
a recent blood drive sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa honor society
at Northeast Mississippi Community College, 53 units of blood
were donated, surpassing the goal of 52. United
Blood Services representative Amye Oldham praised the students
and staff at Northeast for their response and for their
dedication to the community blood system. Phi Theta Kappa
president Rusty Whitten of Corinth kicked off the September drive
by donating. The Northeast group sponsors three too four drive
per school year. Northeasts Iota Zeta chapter has
been recognized as a Five Star Chapter, the highest rating
given. Phi Theta Kappa is an international organization
composed of 1100 chapters at colleges in the United States and
Canada with international headquarters in Jackson, Miss.
The honor society seeks to foster the development of leadership
and service, to provide an intellectual climate for the exchange
of ideas and to encourage the establishment of scholarships for
advanced education. Phi Theta Kappa is recognized by the
American Association of Community Colleges as the official honor
society for two-year colleges.
