PTK SPRING CHEESE SALE WINNER ANNOUNCED AT NEMCC – Rusty Whitten of Corinth, president of Northeast Mississippi Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa honor society, recently presented Larry Jones of Corinth with a check for $25 for being the top seller in PTK’s annual spring cheese sale. Jones sold 77 two-pound blocks of cheese. Members sell the cheese each year at Christmas and in the spring. Proceeds go to help pay for service projects the group engages in, as well as for travel to the International Phi Theta Kappa Convention. Founded in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society composed of 1100 chapters at colleges in the United States and Canada. International headquarters for the organization is located in Jackson, Miss. PTK seeks to foster the development of leadership and service, to provide an intellectual climate for the exchange of ideas, and to encourage the establishment of scholarships for advanced education. Northeast’s Iota Zeta chapter is a “Five Star” chapter, the highest rating given any chapter.
