NEMCC’S BURCELL IS PRESENTOR AT REGIONAL CONVENTION– Cody Burchell (l) of Booneville, a sophomore at Northeast Mississippi Community College, presented a workshop on chapter fundraising at the Mississippi/Louisiana Regional Phi Theta Kappa Leadership Conference on the campus of Mississippi College in Clinton. Burchell, who serves as Phi Theta Kappa Regional Vice President, also assisted Dustin Bratton from Copiah-Lincoln Community College with a presentation on scholarship activities. Burchell serves as vice president for service of Northeast’s Iota Zeta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. Founded in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society composed of 1100 chapters at colleges in the United States and Canada. International headquarters for the organization are locatedin Jackson, Miss. Phi Theta Kappa is the official honor society of two-year colleges. Northeast’s Iota Zeta chapter is a “Five Star” chapter, the highest rating given any chapter, and has been recognized as an exemplary model. The chapter was recognized in 2005 as a top 100 chapter internationally. It is open to students enrolled full-time who maintain a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
