Dr. Hawkins has over 24 years experience working in industry as a radio frequency/microwave design engineer, as a numerical analyst and as a teacher.  He has worked for contractors to various government agencies in the area of communications, radar, and missile defense systems, and in the commercial area of cellular telephone systems.  His work has included modeling, simulation,  large scale system analysis and design, as well as miniaturized circuit analysis and design over a broad range of frequencies.  His research efforts have included the development and usage of numerical methods to model electromagnetic fields in waveguides and antennae.  In addition to technical responsibilities, Dr. Hawkins has performed project management duties to include work force management, cost and schedule control, customer relations, and new business development.

Dr. Hawkins is currently in his 15th year as an Engineering Technology Instructor at NEMCC where in the classroom he teaches Electronics, Hydraulics and Pneumatics courses.  He teaches online courses in Beginning Algebra and Intermediate Algebra, and occasionally teaches specialized classes and seminars directly for industry.  He is also available to industry as a consulting engineer.

Dr. Hawkins has four children, the oldest of which is now enrolled at NEMCC, the others attend Booneville High School and Middle School.  He attends Calvary Baptist Church in Booneville where he sings in the choir and serves as webmaster.  He also writes blogs regularly on myspace.
